Okay everyone, I looked and couldn't find the answers to my questions.
I just finished installing my very first stereo headunit, an AVIC-Z1!
I noticed that the unit puts out way more bass than the stock speakers can handle. So I'd like to take advantage of this extra power and change to some speakers that will handle the extra power.
So my questions are:
1. Of the 6 stock speakers in the car (two in eack door panel, and two in the rear deck) which ones are powered by the stock amp?
2. I feel that there's alot of bass coming from the lower speakers in the door panels, but thought that they must be for the mids at least, since when I fade the audio to the rear only there are no mids or highs at all, so I thought the rears must be just for bass.
3. Crutchfield reps mentioned that the rear and the lower door speakers are both 6x8's. Is this correct in spite of the fact that the lower door speakers have what looks like a 6" round speaker grill?
And finally, I'm not interested
just yet in buying an expensive sub for the rear and the required amp. But thought I might be able to enjoy some better bass by changing the speakers that are run off the amp and putting out the most lows. Which speakers are run by the amps?
Thanks in advance!
