Default 6.5 Door Speakers in 99-04

Any one know if it is possible to install 6.5 in components in the front door of an 02' GT. I have heard and read a few thing about it but noting to confirm it.

This is what im looking to fit. I just want nice clean mids and highs, Im looking to add a rear sub later on.

Anything can fit with the right amount of mods and money. I would suggest on doing something like this:http://www.crutchfield.com/S-h2wruEv...10&I=1086810CS

Do you have the Mach system? Either way, it will be a better sounding stereo, and these will bolt right into your holes on the doors/back deck. If you don't have the Mach, try and pick up the surround that the Mach systems have for the back deck. They are around $50.00 on ebay, and add alot of sound to the system. Good luck!!!!

ya i would def go with the infinity comp. system. when i installed my system i installed the back deck from a mach system. I threw in the older reference system and it sounds really good. If you were to install aftermarket speakers, i would also recommend picking up a amp. If you plan on adding a sub, by a five channel amp. i personally have two amps, i thought about goin with a five channel, but my head unit has a sub level output with adjustments so i went with two amps.

Thank you for the replies.

I have recently put in Kenwood Excelon DPX-701 double din stereo in my Stang and it looks great. I have ordered 2 Polk Audio db104 10" sub woofers and their on the way. Next thing I'm getting is the amp which i have a 200$ budget for, I'm looking to buy the Infinity Reference 611a amp i hear it has great power. So then the last thing is to replace the front speakers. After doing alot of reading i decided i wanted to go with the Polk DB 6500 series components in the front doors because the 6.5's give the best sound and i like the Polk Audio line of products. Although if i need to go with the 5x7's i will. I'm not going to put in rear fill speakers because i hear it pulls away from the front sound stage and i may change my mind later on.

I'm looking to build my custom box for my 10's in the next couple of weeks and if anyone has any input i would be glad to read it.

Questions about sub box...

Would if be better to face the subs toward the fold down seats or the back of the car like i see most? Please post any pictures of custom boxes you come across.

Thanks for the help. -Aub

Uh, why would you not go with rear speakers? The staging all depends on where you have your custom stereo settings. Like I said above, you can put 6.5's in there with the right amount of time and money, but beware of the depth of the speakers with your window. If you go with a lower profile speaker, you will lose some tones, that's why subs are deep in profile.

Subs/low tones are omni-directional, so it doesn't matter where you mount the speakers. They will thump anyway given the right parameters.

The mfr. of the subs will give you the proper box size/space for optimum sound. Never go square because of resonance.

Here is a link to a post that sum what explains why you may or may not use "rear fill" speakers. Both sides seem to have different opinions. I lean toward no rear fill side for now and if its just not the right sound, I can always add them later.

Alright I can see the advantages and disadvantages from both sides. However, I have put together what I think is a pretty awesome system. I actually put more power to my back speakers with more of a high pass filter on it. But i also like to listen to heavier music and loud!!!
It all depends on your preference of volume levels and music genre!
