like the title say i need to install two amps on straight for the subs and the other for the 6x9 speakers in the back and planing to run the kick panel speakers with radio power only? i have a general idea on a one amp instalation i just need to know how to get them both hooked up. i bought the power distribution block to run both amps but that all i know so far.
still waiting on some tips, i dont want to pay someone well over 100 dlls when i can do it myself. i know once i do it once i should be able to do it again whenever i get a bigger system
power wire from battery to fuse block run the 2 wires out to each amp use the correct fuses for each amp ,find a ground use a bolt or screw that already in place works best run 2 wires of that, splice the remote wire (turn on) from radio and make 2 wires of that, if the head unit has two sets of rca jack connect 1 to each amp rear usually subs
if only has 1 set you will need to get a rca splitters or crossover to split the signal the connect the speakers from there remember to set the crossover on mids and subs
Sorry vicma, sometimes I get too busy and forget to check. My Son has a 2 amps setup in his. A 4-channel for the component system, and a mono for the sub. It sounds awesome!!!!!
Are you leaving the shaker in? If you are, you will need a line level output converter to hook your rca cables into. Run the rca's to where ever you are mounting the amps (probably the trunk). One set will go to one amp and the other to the other amp. If you are taking the Shaker out, the aftermarket HU will have RCA outputs. Just hook them up to the RCA cables. Run a power wire from both amps (probably 8-gauge) to your dist. block and from there run a 4 gauge to your battery. There is a really nice hole precut on the driver's side for 2005+. Make sure that 4 ga. wire doesn't touch your engine or you will hear an annoying whine when you get on the gas. Ensure you have a solid ground by sanding the paint off of a spot for your ground. I used the bolting point for my rear seat as the ground point. Run one remote wire from the HU to the amps, but splice it so you have 2 wires.
If you are trying to use the door subs with an aftermarket HU, you will have to buy a special wiring harness. You will need one anyway, but the one you get at Best Buy isn't enough. Crutchfield has it. It will be 2 harnesses actually. You will also have to purchase a +5V voltage regulator because the ford amp for the subs needs a 5V input vice the 12V it will get from the HU. Otherwise you will get an earsplitting pop everytime you turn on the radio. You can also just run wires from the subs in the door to a separate amp and bypass the ford amp, but I don't know the RMS value on them, so you might over or underdrive your subs.
I have been where you have been and it is a learning experience. Good luck.
interesting, I have a 7v output RCA through my eq and everytime I turn my car off I get aloud pop through my subs. Too much voltage I thought from the eq.
Anywho I have 4ga from the battery through a inline fuse, to a capacitor, from there to a dist. block to 8ga to each amp. You will want to keep the ground from the cap (if you have one) and the amps as short as possible. RCA's and power should be ran down opposite sides of the car to reduce noise through the system.
Most new amps have both an input and an output, so you can basically daisy-chain them. RCA's go from head unit (aftermarket) or line-out adapter (stock) to the first amp, and then from the first amp to the second. The distribution block should make the rest of the wiring easy, just how bigwilly put it.
Ive tried that rca preouts from amp to amp, not a stickler for it unless it is a serious competition vehicle where you are using more then 3 amps, unless you opt out for the eq piece then that would be your only bet.
