Default 1992 notchback-new harness no power to alpine

i purchased a new alpine HU from best buy.i also bought the required install kit and harness. i go to install harness and realize that the factory harness in the car has been cut. so i go to local junk yard and cut an old harness and splice it together in my car. i plug everything in and viola!,NOTHING. i checked the fuses and all is good. any suggestions on where i can trace the problem or just run completely new power wires. and suggestions would be appreciated.

It won't hurt to just run new wires to the fuse panel. BUT, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have someone check your harness install with a meter to see what the problem is. Hopefully the Alpine isn't the problem. Check the inline fuses there and make sure you have a good ground.

Did the car originally have Premium Sound? If it did, you have to bypass the factory amp behind the system and in that case you have to get another harness for that. Any quality sound shop should have it, or you can order from someone like Crutchfield or whoever you deal with. I had the same problem in my 88.

ok.there are two extra harnesses in the opening where the radio goes. they are not like the ones for the radio.they are a little smaller, but one is gray and on is black.they are just sitting there. could these be for the factory amp? i will try and get a pic. how can i tell if this car had premium sound? it is originally a 1992 lx 4-cyl. did this car have it?
if all else fails i will just run new wires.
