Default 1994 Mustang GT Aftermarket Radio Install (door speakers not working)

Okay, here's the deal. My GF just bought a 1994 Mustang GT. The person who owned it before had a Sony CD player in the dash and a amp running the four speakers (two door and two in the back) and a sub. He/she did it all right and used a harness to adapt everything over so there were no cut wires.

It looks like it used to have a factory amp, but honestly I don't know much about the 1994-98 Mustangs. It's not a Mach system, but would it have had a stock amp under the radio? I think it did.

So, I bought an adapter from Meijer and plugged it into the amp bypass plugs (right side behind the radio). Everything worked fine, almost. The door speakers are not working. The rears do, but not the doors. I've checked the speakers and my connection, all good.

The wires for both the door speaker are both black and black/white stripe; I found that odd. Anyone know if that's normal. The rears were all different colors (blue, orange, white, and tan, I think).

I don't want to run wire from the radio to the speakers. Is there something that could be unplugged somewhere under the dash for the door speakers? Does anyone have a schematic for the sound system? Any help or ideas would be great, thanks.

No one got any ideas? Suggestions? I've located some schematics, but they don't really help. There has got to be something unplugged somewhere. I've checked/rechecked the door area and tore the trim around the radio out to get a better view of the connectors. I've also tried to trace the cable to see if there are any connectors undone... only found one (under the glove box), but I can't find anything to plug it into.

Well, I gave up and installed an amp. Only for three reasons though: one, the car was prewired for an amp; two, I never installed one before; and three, I got a brand new amp for $30.00 (and no, it was not stolen).

So, if anyone else ever has this problem--or any other--here's the answer: if it's broke, it's time to upgrade.

Hrmm, I was going to suggest tracing the lines back to the deck and see if you didnt need the dual harness for mach systems.

I attempted to trace the lines... it is hard. So... I gave up. I wouldn't have, but the car was wired for an amp. I had to do was plug and press play. Thanks for the reply... I was beginning to think no one would.

if you dont have an RCA connection and use the amp bypass which I think plugs into your left/right speaker lines for a signal, then which ever side you plugged the bypass into would shut off.

I've bypassed the amp the same way in other 'Stangs before with no problem; that's why I was so confused. Had there not been wiring run for an amp I would have kept looking and found the problem.

Oh well, the car sounds great now and the CD deck with iPod control is awesome. Just plug the iPod in, set it in the glove box, and rock on. Technology is great.
