Default System in a 70 Fastback?

Im looking for someone that knows a little about speakers or installation of a system in a classic..
I have a 70 fastback Im looking to add a system to.
I want the classic look in the radio bezel, I know there is a website custom auto sound or something..
Any suggestions or ideas?

I own Custom Car Audio here in Kansas, and I know the classic look you are talking about. Looks like you live in Agg Town, Im guessing that is College Station, I went to school there. What you are looking for is someone that can restore a classic radio or what I have done in the past was take the front of an old 8-track and mount that infront of a CD Player to give the classic *=track look, but it flips down to reveal a cd player. Pretty neat install and it looks clean. Just some ideas. If your in College Station you can check out Audio Video on Iniversity Drive across from Fox & Hound or Circuit City on Harvey Rd Right before The Tap on the right heading East. Not sure if Bryan has any good stores or not.

this would be a fun one to work on. What you can do, is find an old cassette or even8 track radio and kind of mold the knobs and front of that onto a flip down CD player if you want that. All you are creating is a superficial appearence, looks 30-40 years old but is actually a new model cd player. Im telling you that would be a fun project.

junk yards are going to be the best place. Sub mount a CD player like .5 to 1" back from the dash and then to the dash as a "cover" saw an old * track off by about 2 inchest, seal it up and add a little hinge and snap so it can stay locked in the up position. Flip down the * track and reveal your CD player. Same can be done with original speakers too. Just make them look pretty and chop them up and mount them over the new stuff.

Personally, I'd go with a solid mounted CD player in the glove box with a wireless remote or perhaps a Sony with a joystick remote and leave the factory radio in its place. I've done a few classics with custom kick panels with a nice 5.25 component set and custom rear decks with 6.5s or 6x9s depending on what the customer wanted. Don't forget the sound deadening material, a little will go a long way in a classic car. If you're going with a sub, then you may want alot.

I'm going to be building a custom fiberglass console for a friends 64 Malibu SS to hold an Alpine CD player and an Audio Control EQL. I think he wants me to mold some gauges in also, but we'll see. This could be an option for your Stang but it will take away from the "classic" look.

I would like to see the console when your done Stork, I got a Supra I did a fiberglass spine through the rear deack and down the rear seats, Fiberglass is very annoying sometimes.

Yeah, glass is a PITA, but the end result is worth it when it's done right. Sand, sand, sand. LOL. I'll get some pics on the framing and glassing. Right now he's just waiting on getting new floor pans and tranny tunnel welded in. Lotsa rust.
