I'm looking at a single 10" sub because thats all that I have faith in that will fit in the trunk of a 2001. Looking at subs under $200 that will sound good with metal and rap, and will work with this amp: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2552

Can I vote for trying to find a used Alpine on craigslist?

You can't go wrong with any of those choices (JL would be my choice) and I'd say a good class-d mono amplifier putting out 300 to 500 watts RMS @ 2ohms. You could even match it up. JL amp on JL sub, Polk amp on Polk sub, etc, etc. You could go with more than one 10" sub back there also. Plenty of room.

i like my infinity perfect, got it off ebay new for 90 bucks. I also like the Boston Acoustics subs, owned one of those too. The Alpines are great subs too. Had Two. I didnt really like the rockford subs that ive owned but thats just a sound preference. Had three of those at one time

I say go with Alpine..cause right now i have two 10" subs(600watts each)n a 400 watt amp..n that fits fine in the trunk lil manouvering to get it in n out..but alpine sounds so nice..n right now with my amp i only got 200 watts going to each sub n they can handle another 400..n there already pretty loud as it is(had a few complaints from neighbors none from cops yet) i got my set for bout 450$ as a package..
