Default 1995 Cobra Mach 460 stereo and speakers replacement

I went to Best Buy today to buy a new stereo and speakers for my 95 cobra. The guy there said that if I replaced the head unit or the speakers, I would have to have them re wire everything and bypass the amps. Is this right or can I replace the head unit or the speakers or both without a big mess.

It's true. They should have a harness to take care of this so it's a plug in. Without it, then they would have to splice each wire, and it's about a dozen, to bypass the factory amp.

One bad thing about factory amplifiers, they aren't made the be used with anything else except factory stereos. Catch 22 from the nice people at Ford.
