Default Code for unlocking Mustang door using keypad?

Hello... I just found this forum and thought someone out there in Mustang world had to run into this problem before....

I just purchased over the Internet a 2001 Mustang convertible which arrived over the weekend and looks great, but the person I purchased it from does not know the keypad code to unlock its doors, and there was no owner's manual shipped with this vehicle.

I'm told in other Ford vehicles the original code is hidden somewhere (like in the trunk), so if someone knows where to look I would really appreciate hearing from you. Of course, if the code has been modified this won't work for me, so if someone knows how to reset this code, I would appreciate learning about that procedure as well.

Thank you!

I've never seen a keypad on a mustang from the factory. Someone probably installed an aftermarket pad. I would look for a make on the aftermarket part and maybe their website can tell you how to change the code.

Thank you very much for the words of wisdom. Since the keypad is only on the driver's door (and there is no mention of a door keypad in the owner's manual that I found online), it makes a lot of sense that it was added on afterward... It looks really nice though, with blue backlighting that comes on when the numbers are pressed... I've tried a number of number combinations (I'm assuming it is a five-digit code, I really have not idea) with no success, so I guess I've just got a door ornament... Thank you.

The Ford cars equipped with factory keypads have the code on a decal usually on the trunk lid support. A bright person might put it there...???

Look there.....cross your fingers first.
