I need to replace my antenna Base on a 2001 GT.
When it goes threw the fender is it couplinked to a longer antenna wire?Or right to the radio?

nope, it has an antenna wire that goes to the radio. its bolted in from underneath the fender, so you are gonna have take off the wheel and the splash guard to make things easier for you. other than that, its pretty easy

what i cant remember is if the antenna wire is part of the base or if it can be detached from the base. i know it can be detatched from the radio

I think I am going to take it to Car Stero Store.
If I have to take the splash guard off ,Is it because there are nuts that will fall off the screws?

you need to be able to access the wire. Thats why you have to take the splash guard off. The splash guard is very easy to remove and install.

yup, what he said. all that holds the splash guard in place are 2 (maybe up to 4) metal screws that screw it into the bumper/fender, and about 4 plastic clips that come off with a flat head screw driver. you dont really have to remove the tire either, it just makes for easier access

oh, btw, i wouldnt take it to just any stero place, i would take it to one that will replace it with a factory unit. the after market ones they sell tend to have a poor fitment and are overall poor quality units, most the time affecting radio performance

Hi

You do not have to take the fender apart.
The fender has the nuts as part of the fender.
The old antenna base just screws off with 3 brass screws, and the old antenna wire comes off the base.
No need to run new wire to the radio.
I repalced the base with my friend today.Took seconds only.
Real easy.
This is on a 2001 Mustang Gt..
