Default 1998 Mustang with Mach 460 sound system problems.

Hi, i have a 1998 mustang, with the 460 sound system. today i tried to hook up a new head unit, using the metra wiring harness from best buy, and for some reason im not getting sound, everything is hooked up correctly. any ideas as to why this is? another thing thats goin on with the car that might be the reason for this problem is that the mid speakers arent working, only the tweeders are firing?? any help is greatly appreciated. thank you very much

(I'm assuming the '98's are set up like the "03's) The subs are powered by two small amplifiers in the back. The simplest way to fix the problem would be to run new speaker wire directly from the new head unit to each of the 4 woofers (2 front and 2 rear) bypassing the amps altogether. Your new headunit should put out amplified signal. And I've heard that running new speaker wire for a new head unit is a good idea anyway.

In mine, I also wired in a couple frequency filters (to filter out the lows) into the line for the tweeters by the side-view mirrors so they will not recieve the signals meant for woofers (and will stop the heavy distortion that results).

Hope this helps.
