When I was at the dealer the other day the mechanic that was working on my car told me that if you don't turn off the Shaker before turning off the car, it will continue to run juice to it.
Not sure if this is true or not, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I've seen that mentioned on another thread here. Some guys have found that if your vehicle sits for a few days the battery seems low when trying to start it. I noticed that once myself.

Ford can build a damn nice car but they can't figure out how to cut power to a stereo? I think they really dropped the ball on that one.
IT's probably my one and only complaint with the new mustangs is the lack of functionality with the stereos.

That has got to be one of the dumbest things I've heard from a dealer. First, there is no logical reason for this to be the case and second, batteries would be going low all over the place. I leave my radio on all the time and my car can sit for up to a month. No starting problems.
Besides, if you are breathing, you know more than most dealerships anyway. My dealer told me the alarm sensors were fancy screw covers. Stupid morons. Ok, I better stop before I rant.....
GM had a HUGE problem with power draining from the C6 vettes. If you let it sit for more than a day or two, your battery would be dead. The headlights were still sucking power. They finally put out a TSB sometime last year for an ECU reflash.

That would be great... Spend all that money on a new C6 vette, and you can't keep the battery from going dead.
My friends dad had 2 alternators and 10 batteries put in before they reflashed the ECU. He's in litigation with GM under the Texas Lemon Law for that as well as the "orange peel" paint job it has. So far they offered him $10K to keep the car and go away. He wants a new C6 though.

You can't blame him for wanting a new car... That is CRAZY!!!
hopefully ford got this problem fixed on the 2007 models but if not i knew i should have stayed away from the "skipper" 500. the v6 just had the single cd and i never had a problem with it. on the orange peel i used to work at a cadillac dealer and all gm cars have orange peel on them. they say it offers another layer of protection from the elements. even the XLR comes from the factory with orange peel. i couldn't and wouldn't pay 80k for a car that has a factory paint defect. oh well only little boys wear bowties anyways.
Is not that big a deal. If you notice that when you leave your radio on and shut the car off....and even take the key out....it will continue to play. But as soon as you open the door it shuts off. Now unless you plan on sitting in your car for hours on end once you shut it off and remove the key, you are not going to drain your battery.
I actually think that it's kinda of cool to be able to listen to a few minutes of music while I am picking up whatever I have in the car with me and about to get out.

How is this a "problem" ?
Not unless your shutting off the car taking out your keys and climbing out the window. But then again, the Radio/CD player shuts off after about 5 minutes anyway. It probably does use a very small amount of power when the car is off by saving your preset station selections, clock settings etc, but if it causes your battery to go dead, you got a problem.

On Friday I found that my 2005 Mustang's battery was nearly dead after sitting for only two days in my garage. When I tried to start it I got a a couple revolutions of the engine and then just solenoid clicks.
However, that's when the Shaker 500 started acting up. The car was turned off (with a low battery), key out and the doors open. As I got out I heard the Shaker start shuffling the CDs in the changer. It kept continuously moving the CDs until I finally held down the eject button. Then the display showed "initializing" and finally shut off the radio. It repeated this same sequence when I tried to start the car again.
The low battery reset the clock in the Shaker 500, but it kept all the radio presets.
I dropped the car off at the dealer and asked them to check the radio and charging system. When I picked it up they said they had ordered me a new radio, and would call me when it comes in. None of the service desk folks could explain anything about what had malfunctioned and why I needed a new radio.
It sounds like Ford may have found some problems with power draw from the Shaker 500, if they are that quick to replace the complete radio under warranty.
Your problem sounds very simiiar to an experience I had. This had happened a couple times. Finally I just got it towed to the dealership. Turned out the battery was defective. Haven't had any problems since.
Currently in Iraq guys, wife taking care of the car for me while I'm gone. I have the Shaker 500 in my Roush. My wife was driving it once every week or two. But we found that when she let it sit for about 2 weeks my battery would be dead. In the last 3 months the dealer has replaced my radio and my battery. They did the radio on there own...said it needed to be replaced. Since then, we have had no problems with it sitting for 2 weeks. Crazy!
