Question Mach 460 Sound System Issue

We have a 1999 Mustang with a Mach 460 Sound System. I love it. Worked fine up until a couple of weeks ago when I heard the lows kind of short out and then come back on. I didn't think anything of it until the lows cut out all together and haven't come back since. Any information to help me fix this problem without having to take it in would be greatly appreciated. I can't take much more of that crappy sound!!

Jamie

Hiya and welcome, glad you joined us.
And I think you may be out of luck without taking it in or replacing it. Sounds like an internal problem with the headunit and you might be better off getting another rather than having it worked on.

Your Mach system consists of a trio of amplifiers. Two in the trunk that run the woofers (your lows) and one behind the headunit that runs the tweeters. (your highs) Now..... before you go spending money having somebody pull out the headunit to see what might be wrong... look in your owners manual and it will tell you where the FUSES are for your sound system. I'm not saying that the fuses are the problem, but it would be the most logical place to start looking. Now if the fuses are good then more than likely, your rear amps are bad. I've seen this alot with the Mach amps. They don't seem to hold up well to constant cranking. This might be a good time to UPGRADE, but thats up to you. But lets start the troubleshooting with the fuses..... it just might be that simple....

Check your connections to the amps in the trunk.
