Default how to hook up amp to sub?

I have a JBL 12" sub with dual voice coil and a Power Acoustik 200w mosfet amp and it says it is 2ohm stable. How do I hook the sub to the amp to get the most out of the sub. It has been sitting in my garage and when I pulled the sub out, it had a negative wire running from the left speaker out section of the amp to the negative on the sub and a positive wire running from the right speaker out section of the amp to the positive on the sub. The back of the sub has 2 pos/neg connections, one on each side, but the speaker wires are only hooked to one side. shouldnt I be using both of them to get full use of the sub, or not with the amp that I have. I got the sub amp combo from somenone years ago and it was already hooked up. Thanks in advance, I'm trying to understand this stuff.

The dual posts on the sub are there so you can bridge in more speakers, not as a double power inlet. It's pretty straight forward to connect it.

Actually on the JBL Dual voice coil subs there are two seperate 4 ohm voice coils. They are not internally connected. If you want 2 ohm operation, which would give you the greatest power output on your amp, hook the two negative terminals together and run that to your negative amp terminal, and hook your two positive terminals together and run that to your positive amp terminal. This is a parallel connection.

should I be using both the left and right speaker out portion of the amp. When hooked up before, it was hooked into the neg left speaker out and pos right speaker out.

It sounds like the amp was being ran in bridged mode. That will give your amp the most output. I would leave it hooked up that way.
