S197 Mustang hidden Shaker radio function

i am not sure if this is old news

You turn on the radio, and hold the menu button down for like 5-6 seconds. It should then give you a hidden option RDS on/off. Turn it on. From there, you can see the song artist/name on radio stations, and hidden text they broadcast. Also you can now search for station by type (rock, rap, country, etc.). you use the up and down buttons to change options.

I've heard rumors about that but it's great to know how to make it work. My wife's car radio has that function and I think it is cool.

My '08 Shaker 500 has that in the regular menu that you access with the menu button. It took a while to figure out what the hell RDS was.

Old news, had it on the 05 RDS is Radio Data System and is just a small part of the radio signal that contains standard information such as station name, genre of music, song title, etc. I dont know why they choose to turn it off by default but yeah its been there for awhile. Good to bring it up for the newbies though!

You guys know about the false bottom for the large cup holder right?

Funny.... I have no idea. Have to pay attention to my radio to see what gets displayed. usually drive with the radio off and listen to the exhaust, or sometiimes play a CD.

Now I feel really stupid....I didnt know it did that...i just checked it out this morning and...it really works...just goes to show after 15 years of selling these cars....that some of the times the customer knows more than the salesperson...thanks for the tip...

the rear cup holder (the larger opening) has a rubber false bottom. check it out.

Also, you can snap the seatbelts to the seats at the bottom by the door sill, making them easier to grab.

Nobody explained this to me when I got the car.
