I'm going to attempt putting 4 12's in the back seat of my 91' lx 5.0 convetible
I will let everyone know how this goes. The reason i am doing this is because i heard that speakers don't sound right in a convertible trunk. I am good at building my own boxes and i think i can do this. What does everyone think? Does anyone know first hand the difference the sound a convertible will have compared to a coupe?

It will not live up to your expectations. A vert. is probably the worst for sound quality. Just go with 2 12'. Without getting heavy into physics, the is no where to focus the bass. Nor does it have any reflective sufaces to get a full wave length of a lower frequecy that a coupe has. That an the fact that you can kiss any truck space and performance from heavy speaker, box and amp(s) goodby. On the good side, it would be LOUD.

Looks like the Mad Max interseptor and weighs about 1800lbs w/o motor (450hp 351w installed to move the car around)
Black, 82 Capri RS 5.0L, B303, 1.7 rockers, World 180 heads, +150hp N.O.S, Turbo coupe rear end, T-56(tremec tko would be beter), 80 cobra nose
o.k. here's an idea i just thought of. What if I put the amps under both driver and passenger seats. WIth those under the seats I can put 2 12's on the floor board, and still have room where the back seat would be for 2 more faceing the back. All in a custom box. I can do it. If i can't my step-dad can for sure.

? floor board? I get idea of the two in the trunck facing backwards(that would sound good). How do you plan on puting them in the floor board? You'll have to explain that a bit better.

What I am trying to say is," I will put two speakers facing the seats on the back floor board. I will have two speakers facing forward in the place where the old back seat was. I'm taking the back seat out, and building a box to fit in the back and floor board.

I see. If your doing that, then put the amps in the trunk. So your butt wont get hot.

I HAVE A 96 VERT AND I REPLACED MY BACK SEAT WITH FOUR 12'S AND THEY SOUND SUPERB.
ME, MY FRIENDS, AND MY DAD BUILT MY BOX AND IT LOOKS GOOD AND SOUNDS GREAT CONSIDERING THAT THERE ARE FOUR 12'S POUNDING BEHIND YOUR ASS.
i have an 89 gt convertable with 4-15"s in a lexan box...i hit 137 spl with 5 people holding down the flapping roof panels. came in 2nd in that competition....not bad for a rag. ill post some pics when i get a chance.
