I made a block-out plate for the glove box and placed the head unit in there. I installed 2 4x6 speakers in the door panel, because there were already holes cut.

I believe that installing 6" speakers in the kick panels would be better. You can either make kick panels for speakers yourself or you can buy them from any number of parts vendors.

You can install the amp in the trunk area. If you don't want to show off the amp, you can mount it directly to the steel panel that supports the package tray and your 6 x 9 speakers. You could also make a support out of wood for a subwoofer and place that right where your original 6 x 9 speaker would go.

Great topic!

Already I am jealous, as I have a convertible and cannot put 6X9 speakers anywhere!

I just finished installing my 6.5" speakers in my new kickpanels, and they look great. You can find them available with or without the speakers installed. I bought them without, since I already had the speakers, but be warned you will need a good scroll saw to cut the holes. Here is a link to the kickpanels:

Actually, those already have the holes cut. What a deal. They are $65 for the pair.

Also, there is the opening on the top of the dash where the original 4X10 speaker was, and you can replace that with:

for stereo sound. I haven't gotten this one yet, but it is on my list.

So there you have it; six speaker sound and it all looks fairly stock, or at least tasteful.

Good luck,

Michael

i was thinking of getting composite board and replacing the board that goes form trunk to the cabin thats right behind the back seat amd butting composit board there and attaching my amp and sub woofer to that does this sound like a good idea acoustical structurally and common sense(ly)

Default There is a nice package tray available............

There is a nice package tray from Virginia Classic Mustang that is covered with vinyl (or carpet) to matcvh the interior, and it already has holes cut for the speakers.
I have seen a couple of these and they look really nice. I just ordered one for my '66 coupe.

Yeah get a radio delete panel and mount a din size radio in the glove box or under the dash.Kick panels with speakers are nice. They do sell a board that goes behide the back seat with 2 subs and a amp but the subs they used suck.
