Default Grounding Problem Possibly With Amp, Any Suggestions? 1998 Mustang

I wired a ford mustang today for a sub and amp. it's not the first time i have wired a car up and i have never had a problem till now. It's a 1998 mustang. He has a factory radio which i spliced into a wire that turns on and off with the car for the remote wire. I tested the positive and the remote wire on the amp with a 12v tester and they have juice. I ran the ground wire through the trunk and found a bolt and nut on the frame and i secured it there.
while i was putting the ground wire on the amp turned on and off a few times briefly but after securing it all the way down it doesn't power on.
I'm pretty sure the frame is the best spot on a car to ground the amp and i have done this in the past with no problems. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be a good ground?

If you wired the ground to the frame make sure its not a painted part. If it is take some sandpaper and take it down to bare metal otherwise you won't get a good ground.
