Default Radio Diagram to 1966 Mustang

I was wondering if anyone has or knows where I can get a wiring diagram to install a radio. The last owner ripped the wiring pretty bad. I have the Original replica from Custom Autosound and was going to install today.

Hello. Here you go. The wiring is actually quite simple. You will have a two-wire connector coming out of the radio that goes to the dash speaker and either two or three wires, depending on the particular radio that have. One wire is keyed power for the radio, one is power for the faceplate light that comes from the dash light circuit, and if there is a third wire, that will be a ground. Some use the radio's case as a ground to the dash. There will, of course, be the antennae wire, also. Hope that helps.

Hi again. That's odd. How does a person have more 'threads' than 'posts' ?

Thanks, I'll look over it. When he repainted the dash, he painted some of the wires. So they are black. I was wondering if I could connect the power wire to the fuse box or a wire that connects to the fuse box. There is also a memory wire and I couldn't tell what wire was which cause of the paint.

Hi again. What I told you earlier was for an original radio. How you would want to wire up a more modern radio, with all those whizz-bang, cutting-edge features, like stereo sound, station memory and such, would be the memory wire goes out to the hot side of the starter solenoid, the radio power wire goes to the threaded stud on the back of the ignition switch with an in-line fuse on it, and rest, like any grounding or speaker wires, work it out with the shortest, neatest routes that you can come up with. Good luck, and, btw,

The radio looks like the original and fits the frame, so there is no holes that need to be made or anything need to be done to the frame. It has a connection for a CD changer and a connection for an MP3 or IPOD. There are three connections, one for the power, one for Memory and the other is a ground, then you have the speaker wires. But thanks for the info, I am just getting started so i'll probably be posting more.

Thanks!

Scrub the wires clean with Gojo or rubbing alcohol. The PO did the same thing to the wiring in my first 66.
