Default fm signal in aftermarket radio

hey guys i just replaced my shamer 500 system with an aftermarket head unit, of course i did it myself... but i put it all back in and i have no FM signal at all. do any of you know where that plugs into? do i need an adapter? i think there was a orange wire labeled p antenna? is that incase i have a power antenna or is that for the signal? the head unit is an alpine 9885 and i used a metra wiring harness. Thanks in advance for the help.

You should have a short cable our of the back of the new radio with a 1/4" Dia x 1-1/2" long or so female end.

Then there is a matching male end in the dash on the right side of the radio opening. That is your antenna lead.

Some after market radios only have the female end in the back of the radio without an extension lead, you will need to go buy an extension since it is real tight and near impossible to plug in without a lead.

I just installed an Alpine 9885 in my '06 GT two weeks ago. There is a black antenna wire coming out the back of the Alpine unit that needs to be connected to the orange antenna wire in the Mustang. I also made sure to install the Radioshack 7805 voltage regulator so that I didn't get the annoying pop in the door subs when the unit turns on!

Getting back to the radio, I haven't had the local and DX FM seek settings in a while, but I do get great reception. At first I was scratching my head thinking WTF, I can't catch certain stations that I used to be able to catch.... Then I realized I was on local seek. Switched to DX and I was able to seek out the stations I was missing.

I installed a pair of Infinity Kappa Coax speakers in the rear deck and will be replacing the door speakers as soon as I get a free weekend. Right now, my system sounds so much better with the Alpine 9885 and I really love how it interfaces with my 80 gigabyte IPOD!
