From what I understand this is a pretty solid factory system. Would I get much better sound quality if I got an alpine head unit or pioneer? If its not going to be that much of a difference I won't do it. Thanks. Also any pics of aftermarket head units on an s197 would be great. Thanks guys.

I started with the Shaker 500 unit. It started skipping on CDs so I replaced it with another shaker 500 that ended up doing the same thing. So I switched to a pioneer AVIC Z1 and I'm not going back!
Or if you want to save a few $$$$, I went with the Alpine CDA-9855 from Crutchfield. I will try to up a photo of the finished install later today, if I don't forget....
I couldn't pass that deal up because Crutchfield had it for $249.99 including the IPOD cable and install kit. I may end up upgrading to a double din touchscreen later on, but I am extremely anal and can't stand fingerprints on the touchscreen, so that may not be my best option.
Shaker 1000...Worth replacing the head unit?
