Default 2000 Stereo upgrade problems

I just finished removing the stock stero out of my daughters 2000 Mustang, and found that it has the amp in the system. My question is do I need to have the new (JVC)cd player going through the amp or can I just go straight to the speakers. If I can to go to the speakers where is the plug for them. I had look at some instulation sites and they has said that if using stock system ther is a black and grey plug to use. I cannot find this plug.
Thanks for your time
Todd

hi Todd,i suggest buying the wiring harness install kit,it plugs from your jvc plug to the original harness, that way you can use the amp and you know all is installed right.you can get this at most stereo shops and some parts stores.
