Default 1995 Mustang GT aftermarket speaker issue with MACH 460

I blew the driver's side OEM door speaker last week in my 95 GT. it deteriorated from age.
I purchased new door speakers (quantum audio 5x7's) for the mustang and connected them and made sure the wires were connected correctly and snug etc. tested the car in the garage at my parents and everything was great. I turned the volume up to see how they sounded and the sounded great (turned volume up to 18 out of 35 on my Alpine CDA-9856 head unit) On the way back to my house I noticed if I got above 10 on the volume the door speaker would cut out and then come on and cut out every time it got over loaded. essentially the speakers are apparently overloading the factory amp. Never had this issue with the OEM speakers and my head unit! So what in the world is going on? I must have missed something.

These speakers had a 4ohm impedance as did the OEM speakers so I am lost.

Any ideas?

Drew

My guess on this is your gonna need to get a Capacitor to run the speakers or maybe even amp your door speakers with a four channel amp because your alpine head unit cant power them all by themselves. If you like a loud system go ahead and amp them cuz its definetly worth the money but if you just wanna be able to crank some tunes without getting overly expensive get a Farad Capacitor. I like the Rockford Fosgate ones.

is it the stock mach 460 amp that is causing issues? because I have run this same exact headunit in my fox body powering six after market speakers with no issues and in a escort powering factory speakers with no issues. I just am having a hard time see how two speakers the same size as the stock speakers (which had no issues like this once being powered by this headunit) are overloading the amp on the back of the headunit. That and they work fine if the car isnt running, they dont cut out at all...

i messed around with the head unit some and if i switch it to defeat on setting ( wont allow me to adjust bass/treble) the stereo goes into a default bass/treble setting and with that I can turn it up a little more when driving but if it gets too much power it trips the amp. I believe it is tripping the 460 amp, because the stereo keeps playing and the speakers are still run through the 460 amp, the door speakers are the only one cutting out, the tweeters and the rear speakers keep playing unphased....
