Hot Lap Of Calder Park Raceway in a 1970 MACH1 - VIDEO
Check out this video of Peter "lozza" Richardson in his Mustang race car at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne, Australia. He was on his warm up lap in the video, but he has run a 1 minute 14 !!!
The car is a 70 Mach 1 still LHD, It's a pretty simple set up, 351 Cleveland 4V, running at Aussie GTHO phase 4 specs (it's actually one of the original RPO 83 engines), toploader box of gears, hurst shifter, ceramic clutch and 3.25:1 9 inch LSD. Was running 3.55:1 but was running out of top speed at the longer circuits. The suspension has been beefed up with heavier springs, shocks and sway bars. Brakes are Ford Falcon EB discs on front and stock drums at rear.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. You should see and hear how the serious guys go. They leave me for dead. Next time we have a day where we can take passengers i'll let you know. I might even get you to hang on to the video camera.

That... was... AWESOME! geez, that was freakin cool!
I'm jealous, all we have around here are 1/8 and 1/4 mile strips, and dirt tracks for stock cars... the nearest road course (that I know of, anyway) is over 90 miles away! That's the whole reason I'm not road racing now.
