last monday I organised Stan my mother in laws better half(retired mechanic) to come round and give me a hand to remove the old engine and hopefully drop in the new one.Stan arrived around lunch time insead of First thing as promised as I really needed the help to get the bonnet(hood) off it slowed me down a bit.By about 4:30 we were ready to lift out the engine after the usuall problems with bolts that wont undo and the like.Every thing seemed to be going Ok untill we the front of the engine over the radiator suport then the winch jambed and droped slightly leaving us unable to move either the engine or the car.
PANIC . . . . . after much head scratching ,cursing, pushing and proding we decieded it wasn't going to be an easy fix so I hit the phone trying to borrow a chain block finally I got hold of one of my mates who has a workshop a few streets away he said he had one down the back somewhere we could borrow but I'd need help to pick it up.When I saw it I new what he ment it was about 14" in diameter and weighed over 100 lb .
I was starting to freak out as I didn't want to leave the engine hanging there and I had to be at my sons christmas concert at 6;30(showered & presentable)I think I must of been running on adrenaline as I managed to lug the monster chain block up a ladder and hook it up fortunately the engine came out alright and I made it to the concert ... just in time.
I decieded to buy a sensible sized chain block and stumbled across a good special at alltools 1 ton reduced from $139 to $75
Then I went to put on the new flex plate only to discover the 157 tooth one I ordered had 164 teeth an was 1" larger in diameter
the Saga continues. . . . . . .
