CALDER PARK DRAG RACING – Yes at last you will be able to settle all those arguments. Run your Mustang down the quarter mile. All you need is an approved helmet and sensible neck to wrist/ankle clothing, footwear and a good sense of fun. A special area will be set aside for us and we will have the BBQ in action. Mustangs will be racing against each other all night and in between you can watch some of the quickest cars in the country do their stuff. Starts 6.00 pm. Oskar is hanging out for this one.Lots of "Burn-ups"sic.
As we were leaving the All Ford Day a lot of the cars in front were doing donuts and laying plenty of rubber down.Oskar was in the back shouting "Dad do a burn up go on, go on, go on Dad" and my wife was next to me saying "Dont you even think about it!!!" foutunatly my self preservation instinct kick in and I exersized unusual self control and had to explain to disapointed young bloke that there was a time and place for these things (er like when Mum's not there )So he should get his fill of tyre smoke that night.

UPDATE : If you have a convertible, you must have a roll cage in it to run the 1/4 mile. That counts me out

Oskar was very impressed by the burn outs but disapointed that I didn't run and even more disapointed that even if I had run he wouldn't be able to come down the quarter with me.
At the end of the night( well past his bed time)he wouldn't believe me it was all over when he finally conceded that it was over and Dad wasn't being a kill joy he said "I think we'd better come again. . . .DAD are you listening to me . . .Can we come again"
