Default Audio System w/ Older Mustang

Hey everybody,
Im looking at eventually putting in a modern sweet ass sound system in a 1966 Mustang. I was wondering a couple of things, first off, whats the difficulty level of putting in a sound system into an older Mustang, ive heard some stories of it being pretty messy.
Second, right now im in Melbourne, and I know pretty much what I want in terms of the system, but not too sure where the best places are, if you fellas could give some names of good car audio places that would be awesome.

I don't belive it is too bad installing a new system in a 66 model. A lot of the guys in the club have left their stock system in the dash and installed a CD/MP3 player in the glove box and use a remote control to operate it. That way you dont have to cut up the car.

There a quite a few award winning designers in Melbourne for audio systems. In fact I read recently that Autobarn in Albury won a prize recently ! Bit far for you though ! Anyway JB Hi Fi in Brighton is worth a look as I have seen some good stuff come out of there. Other than that shop around and be sure to check out their previous custom jobs.

You could also come to the Mustang Concours in Port Melbourne on Sunday and speak to a few owners to get some ideas ???

That sounds pretty promising. I pretty much just need to get out there and search around, see whats been done. the problem with the glove box setup is that I eventually plan on having a 7 inch retractable screen so that might entail a little more work.
Could you tell me a little more about this thing goin on sunday, you said its in port melbourne which would be awesome seeing as though I live around there. An address and a time would be awesome. Thanks again dude

Click Here for details unfortunately I have to work so I cant make it .

I've been looking at installing a stacker and head unit in the boot with the face plate in the consol.

Do you have a consol in your car ? The easiest way with out hacking up the dash would be to create a custom consol

Exactly. Take your time and get it right the first time. With your 7 inch retractable screen you may want to look at other cheaper options with bigger stand-alone lcd screens. Do some searchs on the Japanese web sites. They have some crazy stuff
