Hi,
I am about to ship my 2001 Mustang GT to Sydney.
Can anyone recommend a shop to do the LHD to RHD conversion?
Sydney would be preferably but I would take it ti Melbourne.
I haven't had much to do with late model conversions but I'm sure Steve or Jim at Mustangs of Melbourne if they cant help you would point you in the right direction(Steve is president of MOCA)

Geez just noticed this thread after posting similar question about my 01 GT Bullitt. I am an Aussie currently living in Canada and thinking of bringing my stang home with me later this year if financially viable???? Does anyone know costs involved to do LHD to RHD???? I am still debating if its worth impoting and conversion.... I love my stang but the cost could be the decidiing factor? also wondering what a 01 GT Bullitt's market value in Oz might be??? any advice welcomed

Cheers- Marty in Canada
The 01 Bullit is holding its value really well but so are all the Mustangs down here. Late model convertibles seem to be easier to sell down here though. If you want prices go to www.carpoint.com.au
A conversion for your car will be expensive. I would call Crossover for a quote.

They do most of the late models in Victoria. They did my car about 4 years ago. I am pretty happy with their work.
Remember - Information on the SN95's down here is hard to find. My car is rare here, let alone an 01 Bullet like yours ! If I was in your position I would do all the modifications you ever wanted to do to your car. Drive it to L.A. Stick it in a container and send it to Oz :thumbsup Once you get here, have it converted and enjoy driving a very unique car.

Thanks ozpony..... you say pretty happy??? was there any concerns with your conversion job?
Heres another question for you- Is there any extra problems associated with converting a manual transmission stang from left to right hand drive??? reason I am wondering is that I noticed on the 'Crossover' website where they show pics of their stang conversion it appered in pics as if the subject car was originally manual transmission but after steering conversion its auto???? My Bullitt is manual transmission and I would not want to have convert it to auto at all period.....
LOL. Manual is not a problem. They dont change your car to auto !

Ozpony- I spoke to both 'Mustang Australia' and 'Crossover' wow!! talk about two sides of the coin....'Mustang Aus' do not convert and really did not sound very positive about cost or conversion feasibility of importing a 01 stang etc. they would sell me a 05 for 125k though yow!
Crossover on the other hand definetely seem to be the way to go in regard to conversion of my 01 Bullitt... Craig form Crossover set me much more at ease by answering a stack of dumb questions I had on the whole conversion process! about the only minor concern I am left with is comfort level ie leg room width on right hand side as I found out that transmission tunnel is actually designed 2" off centre to right on pre 05 late model stangs!!! so less leg room on R/H side sort of has me wondering how critical that is for peddle placement? and driving comfort level??? as I am 'not' a small guy ie 6' and chunky
That said Craig did say one plus will be that during conversion Crossover can re set and place the drivers seat/rails more to my exact needs, this sounds good to me as at present I would definetely like some more leg room and the stock seat to be able to slide back a few inches further than it currently does!! so this may well compensate for slightly narrower leg room to be expected with RHD conversion anyway!!! Iam still looking for other possible issues to be concerned about that could surface with doing the conversion but Iam running out of excuses it seems now? Also from what Ican gather there are no other 01 Bullitt GT's in Australia so Iam pretty excited about the idea of maybe having he only 'Bullitt' in Oz
The 2" off set transmission tunnel is not as big an issue as you might think. I am over 6' and don't have an issue. I have had to relocate my seat though to get more leg room. The peddle placement is ok. I wouldn't worry about it.
Other than Crossover there is a company in QLD that does conversions. I'll try and remember who they are and let you know.
By the way, how much did Craig quote you for the conversion ????
I have never seen an 01 Bullitt in Oz so I would say yours would be the first. There is the odd Saleen and Steeda around though.

Good to here the 2" offset is not a concern.... peddle placement being manual on the Bullitt I hope will not be an issue either hmmm (see pic).
Yeah if you can dig up the info on the QLD conversion people that would be appreciated deffinetely just to compare with 'Crossover' The quote I had from Craig was $19,500 total for complete on the road conversion plus engineers certificate $350.00.
What do you think???
Having the only 'Bullitt' downunder does motivate me for sure, plus should help maintain investment value of the car longterm I reckon... heres a few more pics of my 'Bullitt' which is build #1801 of 5000 built, most of the 5000 are pretty much in north america alone I hear.... now for a few cool mods before shipping
