Software expert with 4.6l OEM engine management system
I need to find somebody with detailed knowledge on how the software in a 4.6l factory engine management system operates. Specifically I need to understand what the software does in relation to a range of inputs from the front and rear oxygen sensors. If you have expert knowledge in this area, I am willing to pay you to prepare a written report.
On the OBD-II computer the front oxygen sensors give data to help calculate the air and fuel mixtures while the rear oxygen sensors monitor the catalytic converters to check they are working.

OzPony, Thanks for that information. Can I ask whether you know this from work you have personally done on Mustangs, etc or do you know this because somebody else told you. The answer is important as I am trying to have this evidence presented in court.
I was having problems with my Oxygen sensors when I imported my Mustang. They were giving error codes so I started reading about them to try and diagnose my problem. There are actually quite a few articles out on the web about them. I'm sure MM&FF had an article about them some time ago too. Thats where I got my information.
If you want an expert in Australia then you're probably going to need Rob Herrod at Herrod Motorsport. He built the V10 Mustang demo car for Ford Australia.

Hey Nitroman. Nice to see you here at AFM. A '96 GT convertible sounds awesome ! We will have to go for a cruize in summer :thumbsup
Crossover is where I had my Mustang converted. They are a little expensive so watch your back. Craig Dean runs the place and Albert does the work.
My check engine light has come on a couple of times. I have a code scanner which you are welcome to borrow. Honestly, you cant live without one down here as no mechanic knows anything about Mustangs. Read this article --> http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/445.shtml It will explain some stuff you need to know.
I lowered my Mustang with custom Pedders Springs. The guys in St Kilda are great and really put the time in. You can also use Eibach but they are big dollars. I had a few quotes in the $2500 range !
My wheels are 18" Bonspeed wheels. I brought them in through Wheel Boyz. They are the biggest bunch of ****'s you have ever met ! I'll tell you the story some time.
That Mustang in the movie was another guys. He as since sold it and it is in QLD I belive ??
I would recommend you ask as many questions as possible on this site. Thats what we are here for. The US boys will help you out and so will I.
I would also join the Mustang Club of Vic as the people there are great and will save you lots of money ! http://www.mustang.org.au/vic/
Finally, before you buy anything for your Mustang, get 3 quotes or opinions ! It will save you a lot of money. Belive me :thumbsup

i know craig and albert as i have had my Lexus front bushes changed there, amongst other bits & pieces,,, thanx for the offer of the code reader i might have to come and see you,,, whered you buy yours from?
where is this diagnostic plug located,, ive looked under the bonnet and all i could find was the ABS test plug near the fuse boxe naxt toi the battery,,,, the cruise idea sounds good i should have mine done end of Feb,,, i live in Hoppers Crossing where are you?
did pedders have the springs or did they make new ones from your samples and how much did they charge ?
i had my AU done by them and was happy with the job?
cheers thanks for relpying as i know no one in Melbourne with late model (yet)
Hoppers is just down the road. I live in St Kilda. One of my mates lives in Attwood (Broadmedows) and he has a white '94 GT convertible. I also know a guy with a '96 Saleen convertible. All the others have classics.
A modified EB spring fits our car. I have all the product numbers. It was like $400 for the springs installed. Mine might be too low for you. It hits the ground on the K member every now and then. I will have to have it re-engineered. I'll give you a ride and see what you think. My other mate has his slightly higher than mine. You can have a look at both and decide. Both run pedders springs.
I have the Workshop manual for our cars too as well as the code scanner. You can buy one from the RMIT book shop in the city We should easily be able to work out your "check engine" problem. My diagnostic plug is under the hood but I belive '96 onwards is under the dash ?? It will be in my manual.
Drop me an email and I'll give you my telephone numbers --> arees2@csc.com.au We'll see if we cant fix your car and give you some ideas on where to take it when you have problems. Parts are usually the hardest to find. I remember when I got my car 3 years ago. You cant own one without connections
Oh you dont need to buy a code reader. You can make one with a test light.
