It been a bit quiet in here so I thaught I'd share my mustang dramas
the other day I thaught I'd take the Stang to work filled the tank up with premium on the way home I just got onto the freeway it starts missing so I cross my fingers and head for the next exit . I made the exit but stopped on the fly over bridge opened the bonnet(hood) and found the chrome & glass fuel filter had come apart (probably dumped half a tank of premium down the freeway) .It just happened to be the day I'd left the mobile at home so I started walking to find a phone (raining) called roadside assist who said they couldn't fix it but would send a tow truck ASAP 1 1/2 hours later it turned up and I went to close the bonnet and in my haste I managed to bend it repair cost $500 ouch for the bonet and $1.95 for a fuel filter

Ouch is right! $500 ... that had to hurt Just shows how easy a simple mistake can happen. Frank, hope you can take some comfort in that it is fixable and not something where your stang was written off. Good luck with the repair and please keep us posted on how it all turns out..
Think you're right about it being kinda slow around here lately. You can sure tell Anthony (OZpony) is missed around here quite abit. Glad to see you are sure and steady as always.

Man, that's definitely a bad day. Sounds like a good excuse to slap a fresh coat of paint on the girl though.

wow, what a crap day. But like 'ScottHalliday' said, take comfort in knowing it cna be fixed and your car isn't written off. I guess that's all you can do, look at the positive side of it. And given that you would have liked to spend the money on a new set of rims, but can't cos of this, just think, another time? lol I dont know sorry.
Wow that's a bad day all right just goes to show when your stressed it can just create more problems. What wheels are you looking at.
Hay Frank do you have much in the way of second hand parts over there I'm after a 1964 first generation hood (bonnet) they are like hens teeth, the frustrating part is you see them on the web in the US for about $25.
Let us know if you have any contacts.

If you see it for $25 ask about freight even if it's 200 freight it'll be cheeper than a local one. you could try Mustangs of melbourne,East coast mustang & comaro parts, mustang country downunder & just mustangs for starters
I'm thinking about some Dragway 5 spoke ones that are a bit like torque thrusts but polished

I think the bright side is that my boss will be happy because I'll be doing lots of overtime so I can pay for it

Hey Just wondering how you managed to damage the bonnet closing it?? Looks like we are going to get some good weather over the nest week will be nice to get the old girl out for a run in the sun for a change........Ted
The hinge locked up in the open position I gave it a good heave on the side as I was standing on the curb (cold ,wet & P--ed off at the time).I have bought new bonnet hinges and a door hinge rebushing kit after I install them it's off to the panel beaters .
I took advantage of nice weather tuesday & drove it to work

A mate just bought a 65 coupe and I remebered your problem with the bonnet hinges (as it is living along side mine for a while, hard to put up with, 2 65's in the shed.... NOT!!!!) and the hinges were a little stiff I noticed. INOX is a great product for all these type of things, winders, locks, hinges, fishing gear, guns etc anything that moves really. It is available from locksmiths I use it a lot great stuff through my work worth getting a can. Check the site out if you havent already heard of it I recommend it..........Ted http://www.inox-mx3.com/inox.htm
