Hi Jodeb,

Dear jodeb. First the good news if what you have is a real Boss 351 you are very lucky as.
Total number of BOSS 351 Mustangs manufactured: 1806 Total number of BOSS 351 Mustangs located to date: 591 Percentage of total located to date: 33 % So if what you have is a real Boss 351 it is very rare and most likely the only one in Oz land. If you want to know for sure contact the Boss 351 registery at TOC
Ok that said I hate to be the barer of bad news but, what I think you have there is NOT a real Boss 351, but a bad clone. there are just to many things that are not Boss 351 about it, From the non boss paint job to all the aftermarket add-ons on the motor. I true True Boss 351 has the boss stripe down the side. The motor has many incorrect parts on it also. The valve covers are not Boss, but aftermarket and so is the air cleaner. If I could see the motor better I could tell for sure. What you do have is most likely a 351 clevland 4V motor (4 barrel carb motor with larger ports and valves) in a Mach I body with a few add-ons. It mayhave even been born a 2V motor (2 barrel carb smaller ports and valves) and had 4V parts added. Factory 4V motors had a 4V cast into the head that you can see in the front of the motor just below the valve cover. 1970 4V Clevland motors had the quench or small chamber heads with 11/1 compression like the Boss motor but with a hyd. cam and lifters. 1971 4V motors all had open chamber heads except for the Boss. So compression was down to 9/1 on all 4V clevlands but the Boss motor for 1971. Here is a real Boss 351 motor so you can see the differance for yourself. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ol/Boss351.jpg

What you do have is most likely a 351 clevland 4V motor (4 barrel carb motor with larger ports and valves) in a Mach I or just fastback body with a Mach I hood and a few add-ons. It may have even been born a 2V motor (2 barrel carb smaller ports and valves) and had the 4V parts added. Factory 4V motors have a 4V cast into the head that you can see in the front of the motor just below the valve cover. 1970/71 4V Clevland motors had the quench or small chamber heads with 11/1 compression like the Boss motor but with a hyd. cam and lifters. 1972 4V motors all had open chamber heads. So compression was down to 9/1 on all 4V clevlands for 1972. Here is a real Boss 351 motor so you can see the differance for yourself. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ol/Boss351.jpg
