Question 1965 Mustang Maximum Wheel Offset?

Can some one help me out with the maximum offset possible for the rear of a 65 Mustang. I am willing to shorten the diff if it will allow me to slide 8 inch under the rear guards safely.....thanks Ted

I curently have 14 x 7's on the back with 225 's I think 8's should fit no worries

Here's a wheel size chart
