As I couldn't find out where to buy taper rolls and I was keen to get on with my project I was thinking they just look like emery paper rolled up with glue maybe I could make some after a little head scratching as to what glue to use I decieded on Super Glue as it sticks instantly and is heat resistant.

Her is a step by step guide to making taper rolls(you asked for it OZ):

1-
Cut a strip of emery paper the width of your roll angled at one end the length of the strip and the acuteness of the angle will determine the diameter and degree of taper on your finished taper roll

2 - Start to roll up the strip starting from the big end leaving a small hole in the centre to suit your mandril apply a couple of drops of superglue avery 1/2 turn

the last 3/4 " I covered the back of the emery with glue and rolled it back and fowards in by fingers to stick the end down with out it attaching to my fingers

Finished Rolls each roll takes a couple of minuites to make

Do you think we need to add what to do if you stick your fingers together with the super glue ???

I made a couple of mandrils out of 1/4 " round bar one about 4 1/2" ,the other 6 1/2" so I could keep the collet of the grinder well away from the valve seats and gasket surfaces.

After cutting the bar to length I put it in the chuck of an electric drill with it rotating anti clockwise and ground a taper a little over 1" long

then cut a 5/32 W thread down as far as it wanted to go
