i am looking to purchase a 1967 mustang hardtop in bc...having a hard time figuring out vin number....it is 12 digit starting with S ...i f i remove the S it decodes properly..but the vehicle is supposedly from saskatchewan...and would need to be inspected to register in bc

the vin is on drivers side door and engine compartment..both matching 12 digit

i want to make sure the car does not have a lien ...there is no title that comes with the car ..eaten by mice so said....any help would be much appretitated ..thanks for your time

Is there any stamping on the inner driver's side fender ?

Perhaps someone pieced the car together and had the DMV give it a new ID ?

I think shelby put their own ID on VIN #'s and some maybe trying to pull someone leg. (But surely not a coupe )

Maybe go to a CAA location and have that original VIN# and the New VIN #searched for verification
