Default 2008 Mustang GT oil change recomendations

I just recently became the proud owner of a 2008 Mustang GT. I was flipping through the owner's manual and noticed that the first oil change was recommended at 12,000 km. Do most people wait that long, or do people still go every 5000? Also, what type of oil and filter do most people go with? Any and all opinions are welcome!

well depends on the oil u use
theres 3000 5000 8000 and i think 10000

i buy penzoil. mine call for 5W30 @ 5 quarts with a fram filter
never hever had a problem

ive used penzoil in my truck ,my car, my lawnmowers, go karts. i highly reccomend it
as for fram, its a solid filter and never had a problem with it, jsut besure when u change your oil when you pull off the filter that the rubber ring comes off too! sometimes mine stick to the pump but its no big deal

i change my oil every 2000 miles for a few reasons.
1 you can never change your oil too often
2 you might not be able to change at 3000 miles maybe its raining, cold, ect ect ect. so i got a 1000 mile buffer zone
3 stop go driveing and highway driveing, extended trips short trips all adds up

theres many great types of oil, but all my dad ever used, and all i will ever use is regular old penzoil

I use royal purple
and the person changing there oil every 2000 is crazy should I say loaded there is no reason if you dont push your car to the limit race etc to do such a thing even so I race and drive hard and only change every 3000 miles.

I'd recommend sticking with Motorcraft filters. As for oil, you can use synthetic or semi-synthetic. Just be sure it's 5w-20.

I have never taken any of my vehicle to a shop for an oil change and have never taken any for repair. This has been 30 years. There are many brand of oil to choose from and believe me i tried them all. Just make sure you use the correct viscosity and change your oil and filter every 3000 miles.

if you look in your owners manual you should see 2 different maintenance schedule.there is one at 10000km and one at 8000km.here in quebec we use the 8000km that is for intense (not sure wich term to use in english) or rigourous service because of cold climate, dust etc.i think you should follow that schedule too if you drive your car in the winter.go with 5w20 it is very important and i will recommend you ford filter.they are strong with a good bypass valve and with another valve inside that will keep the oil inside the filter to prevent dry start.

Not more than 5000km 5w 20 for v8 i use motorcraft oil and filter. 3000 miles is about 5000km, don't wait for 10000 km.

+1 on that, I take it to the dealer at about 5000km. My manual reads every 10,000 km normal driving, but every 5000km for hard driving conditions. I don't drive it hard but just like to pamper the beast.
