Default Best Mustang for budget?

Hey all, im from Alberta, calgary to be more specific, I am 14 currently, but for when I get my license, what would be the best performing mustang to get for $5,000 (if any). Keep in mind that this would be my first car.

Thanks, Jason

I am 16 and recently got my 1992 Mustang LX convertible in PERFECT condition (it never left its garage other than for short trips) for $7,000. It managed to have 90,000 miles on it, but runs seamlessly. All I have had to do to it so far is fill the power steering fluid.

I would think, knowing this, that you could find a late-80s or early-90s mustang in your price range. Keep in mind, the interior might not be as well kept as you would like, but its a car! I was told to look at V8s because they last longer. Since you will be buying a car that has had a good 60,000+ miles on it, that is probably what you should do to. Hope this was of some assistance. Good luck, and you wont be disappointed!!!

Thank you for your help, but you actually think $5,000 will be enough for a v8? Anyways I'll see when the time comes I hope its enough though.

You can definitely find one. It really depends on what you're looking for. I'm betting you will have to choose between a v8 in rough interior and/or exterior condition or a v6/4 cylinder in good condition. Personally, I love my v8!

v8s do not necessarily last longer but they are what makes a mustang a mustang. look on www.motors.ebay.com and look at what 5.0 mustangs you can get for $5,000. thats where i got my 1989 Mustang GT Hatchback. i paid $4,500 for my car. and all of the mods that i have done came with the car. do some research and talk to some veterans on this website for more information.
Good luck man

True, thats what makes me want one more than just a four or six cylinder mustang.

late 80's early mustangs seem to be easy to find for a good price, buddy of mine got one for $3500 and it was in good shape

My neighbour recently sold his 1990 V8 in great shape for a little over $4000.
