I really would like this answer, as on the CFL Huddle forum, there is a dispute about who had the horse logo first. The Calgary Stampeders or The Ford Motor Company.
I figured you guys would know.

Heres some info i have gathered:

"The Stampeders team was formed in 1948 and began using the running horse symbol about 30 years ago. The Ford Mustang was introduced in 1964. Stampeders owner claimed "clearly we were first," and the team's lawyer Reid Schmidt says the logo is a symbol of the team and its home. "

So it was in the early 70s when the Stampeders started using their actual logo, prior to that this is the logo they used:

The Stamps and Ford are still arguing over the rights to use the logo. (Who has the better lawyers??)
Its funny, when I first moved to Calgary I thought everyone was into Mustangs as they all have the horse logo on the back of their cars... then I found out it was a Stamps logo.

I found out some new information and wanted to know if you new anything about the mustang logo originally owned by The Southern Methdist Univercity?
Is Ford in a law suit with them as well?
Also is there any place to find out more about this?

The Stampeders have used the horse on the helmet longer--it was in the mid 60's. That other logo was used as a team logo, but was never a helmet logo, prior to th horse the Stampeders had helmets with a horseshoe, the players #, and logo-less helmets--which at one time were quite common...

Actually SMU apparently used the horse before the Stampeders, and the story I've heard is they paid SMU to use it back in the 60's...

It's a running horse, but it's not identical...
