Since this has only come to the states recently, only us ol canadians really know about this annoyance.
I want to disable the DRL module in my coupe. There is a module somewhere, and I've been told its under the drivers side fender, but I could not find.
Anyone else disable this?
I WILL cut wires until I find it, but lets hope it doesn't come to that.

Not to spoil your fun, but because this in a Cdn (new) vehicle safety requirement by law, this will give any LEA a reason to pull you over. Then you'd have to get them working and go for inspection. Same as a burnt out light. I've had a few of these stops and they are a pain, usually they check all safety equipment during one of these. I for one would not want that time consuming inconvenience.

I kick my butt every day for letting this go!
Just pull your e-brake up to the first click, the DRL's will be off but the brake light in the dash will be on, thats what guys here do. Personnally I don't see the point. I can't wee my DRL's while I'm driving so they don't really bother me, each to their own I guess.
I know DRL's are law but I've noticed a lot of police vehicles around here don't have them, wonder why?
First of all, I don't know why everyone is getting their knickers in a knot, it only became regulated in BC that you have DRLs in 1991 on, and the original intent was for easier visibility in northern parts of the continent.
Now I have a 1990 coupe, and it has no DRLs, and apparently its safe as it needs to be, as the gov't has not decided to retro fit my 1990.
I cruise with the amber park lamps on only, and I like the way it looks.
No one thinks I'm crazy.
Now I want to cruise in my 91, with the same effect, but now its a big deal.
And its okay, I found the module, the wire in question is green with a black stripe, and I have hooked it up to a switch in the car. So when I cruise, I can do my thing. Thanks to all who tried to help.
IMHO i'd rather leave them on. . . 1. To be seen easier; wouldnt want some careless crud running into the stang. 2. Don't need to give any cops excuse to haul me over. To each his own.

What i did with My 91 was take off the center concell(SP)
and take off the e-brake switch and replaced it with a switch of my own and then
I relocated it in the ashtray by wear the light is
Now I can have them on during the day and when I use justa the amberlight I turn them off
this is an interesting topic because I just imported a 2004 stang from the states which didnt come with stock DRL's and I will need them to pass govt inspection in the coming week. I have a feeling that if you want to disable them completly, why not just take out the relay under the hood?
my question is, if anyone has an owners manual or knows where i can see a diagram, please show/tell me which relay is for the drl's...i talked to the dealer and he said some stangs are made in Canada for north america, and some are made in the US for north america, so the car may have the wiring for it, but may just need a relay. i just need to know which relay it is...if anyone has this information, i would greatly appreciate it, thanks
I imported a 2005 Mustang GT from Texas about 2 months ago. All the dealership did was download some code from a GT in the showroom and upload it to my car and I had DRL. Turning it off with a switch would be better than changing the code in the ECU in case the LEA pulls you over.
