Angry putting 460 into 79 stang

Me and a freind are putting 460 into his 1979 stang. We need to know if anyone has done this? Can any one help? We just put one into a 1985 LTD and it was easy

Subframe conectors, and up grade the brake and get rid ot the 7.5 rear end. If it's standard upgrade the tranny and be aware of the transmition mounting points. Trust me, they fix the mounting problem in 1980

PS Change the entire front suspention to 87 or newer unless you want to play with newer spindals, calipers and all that other stuff when upgrading the brakes.

you still need the 87-93 5.0 spindles, also, look at a C6 and a 9 inch

The 85 LTD and the 79 Mustang are almost identical, so it should be as easy as that one was.

In order to do the 460 swap, you will need a different oil pan to clear the frame and rack. Use a 460 truck pan and pick up if you do not want to go aftermarket. It is a split sump pan and you must get the pick up tube with it.

The extreme weight of the 460 will require the stiffest front springs you can get.

A C6 is a must to handle the torque of the 460 but is a tight fit in the tunnel. Make sure to install a good cooler like a B&M 24 000 lb unit to keep it cool. A deeper tranny pan wouldn't be a bad idea either.
