Other interests

Hello. I often find myself wondering what you folks spend your time on that isn't either your real job or puttering around with a funky old Mustang. Personally, I have some old guitars that I like to make noise with. Others probably don't share my enthusiasm for poorly played loud guitars, but, I enjoy myself. I also like to play chess. Mostly online, but, occasionally my husband and I play. He always beats me, which is why I started playing online. Someday, I'm going to really spank him.

For me it's Mt. Bike racing. Nothing like flying through the woods at 12-18 mph. When you are on the bike your stress levels immediately go down as life outside of the woods fades away, temporarily anyways!

Hi again. You live in the perfect place for that, also. It is beautiful around Gainesville. Green, hilly, lots of different wildlife. A beautiful place.

I have a 1985 Honda trx250 that I ride a lot. But right now I'm repairing holes in the gas tank. I also like hunting and fishing. And really just spending a lot of time in the woods.

work on the garagemahal

Besides work, I am mainly consumed with finishing my garage/workshop (garagemahal). I built it a couple of years ago, but I had my oldest two daughters get married within a year of each other, so I have been broke and haven't been able to finish it.
It is 24' x 36" with a storage loft on half and a high bay on half so I can install a lift.
I just retired after 30 years in the Army National Guard and have a little spare time - but my oldest daughter and her husband bought a house this summer - the woman had about 10 dogs living in the house so we had to gut it and remodel the whole house, so I got further behind on the garage.
I was going to finish the ceiling this week, but the flu changed those plans.
I spend a lot of time on the Garage Journal Forum - The Garage Journal Board - Powered by vBulletin

Here is a pic of my shop -

Well from 8-5 I'm a scientist in animal big pharma, after hours I'm an avid musician, have played guitar and piano for 24 years, also played trumpet and banjo there for awhile, taught lessons for awhile, had a classic rock cover band in high school and then college and post-college had a hard rock band that played original music.

Was a professional live sound engineer for 7 years before I moved to MI and got out of it, did the wedding dj gig on the side as it was more lucrative.

Now we spend a lot of time with our 3 horses, have a beautiful forest right behind our house with great trails, my wife and I ride year round. Also have some chickens that give us eggs, the cats, and dog. We're also doing some remodeling on our house so all of these things take lots of my time away from my Mustang. The pic is from a ride I did last weekend. I love riding in the snow.

I used to hunt but no time anymore, and am a militant paintballer when I can find others who play. My wife and I also like to go camping.

I'm either at the gym training, at the beach bodyboarding since I use to be a professional, or hanging out at home wth my family, or at least with my daughter. Sometimes I'll just go on spotify and get my cardio/weightlifting/driving music organized and adding new tracks.

When I am not spending time with my family (2 boys and wife) I am pretty much obsessed with bow hunting. It is very challenging and I enjoy trying to figure out and pattern the animals (mainly whitetail deer). I spend many hours in the woods each year pursuing large antlered bucks!!! I own a small property in a good area of MN and am always trying to improve the habitat and the quality of the hunting.

In the summer I am an avid golfer...I am still trying to find someone who could golf as much as myself and not get tired of the game...I once golfed 26 18 hole rounds in the month of April (before my boys were born), which is not the best month for weather in MN!
