Default 1967 Mustang Alternator gauge is acting up

I have a straight six 67 and the needle in the gauge for the current of the alternator is going nuts! When I step on the gas the needle jumps to the right then I press the brake and jumps to the Left and it's just dancing a spectacular Broadway show for me at no expense. Well that's why I'm here. What are some probabilities for my exorcist needle gauge? Thank you all that reply and those that also tried.

I would run a test on the alternator to rule that out of the equation.

Hello. Yup. The alternator would be my first guess, also. If your car originally came with a 38 or 42 amp alternator and you now have some components that the car didn't come with, like a cd player or something, that's exactly how the gauge would act. You can get an alternator with something like a 75 or 80 amp output that still hooks up like the original at any major auto parts store.
