Default Question about state inspections

The 65 coupe I have has antique plates on it. I know these plates are for shows, parades, and things of this nature. I am wanting to make it an everyday driver so I know I'll have to change to classic plates.
My question is what is required as far as the safety inspection sticker.
I realize there are exemptions as far as smog devices, seat belts, and these things, but I can only assume everything else must be in proper working order.
Also, if I do modify the engine with upgrades such as 4bbl carb, headers, new intake manifold, etc. will this play into the inspection process?

thanks
Greg

Check out Texas DMV website and I am sure they'd give you the low down. If that doesn't help, call them tomorrow morning.

Hello. Your car needs to have the safety inspection, but cars older than 25 years are emissions exempt in Texas. They like to know whether or not you have brakes, horns, headlights, that sort of stuff, but you don't have to get the emissions inspection. I just have regular plates on my car, since there isn't really any up-side to having classic plates, and the regular plates are significantly cheaper. Hope that helps.

rather than make a new post, which is what I had intended I thought I could rave about my new plates here.

We just moved here and I wanted "vintage" plates for my 67. I searched for 6 weeks off and on and FOUND what I wanted
My car is one of 35 so i wanted to make these too hard to accomplish, so I set a goal for the 40 year old plates to have 135 in the number. Dumb huh?

I JUST received the plates this morning BMH 35....1967!!!!! yeeHAW
