While it is true that 4000 series cars were built as 'real' ones, and are recognized as being 'real ones' by SAAC, they aren't real 'real ones'. Those are pretty much brand new cars built by Shelby, not built back in the 60s. The real 'real' 427 Cobras had vins that went CSX three something, something, something, not four. The 260/289 cars were 2000 cars, the 427s were 3000 cars, and according to the purists, that's all of the real ones. The 4000 cars are very nice cars, run great, all of that stuff, and definitely should not be considered as kit cars, but they just aren't what most people think of when they say ' a real one' any more than the continuation cars were.
