Default 1972 Mustang All lights are pulsating

All my lights (headlights, dash and gauges) pulsate. I've checked my alternator belt and it is tight enough. I've also checked the wiring. I think the problem is the alternator. It's still good, but I think I'll go ahead and change it. I think I need one that is stronger, but is it possible to get one that is too strong and will do damage to my electrical system?

Hello. It sounds like the alternator isn't quite up to the demands being placed on it. Replacing it with something that has a higher output should straighten that out. You can get one with an output of something in the 75 or 80 amp range at any major auto parts store for a reasonable price that hooks up the same way as the one the car came with, which will be more than adequate for any reasonable applications.
