Default 1967 Mustang coupe to fastback conversion

Has anyone dealt with Drake Customs in Lake Havasu AZ. How well is their fabrication projects. I'm thinking in chopping up a nice beefed up and V8 converted 67 T code coupe into a fastback..what the heck it hasn't been original since the 80's.

Making a coupe in to a fastback is pricey its cheaper to buy a rolling shell or dynacorn body.

Someone corner me about a company that did that, I couldn't think of the name. I saw the ad for them, IMO a real one is easy enough to come by, and you get all the pieces.

The huge down side is you cant sell it for the fastback price the vin shows its a coupe and most true mustang lovers wont touch it since its a mutt.

Go for it. Obviously you're not concerned about originality and neither am I. Build the car the way YOU want it. And if you someday want to sell it, then just be honest about what was done to it.

it takes talent dedication and experance to do this modifacation correctly, and undecetable, I've done 5 in the past 3 years, one as a convertable, all cars were basket case rust buckets that I used worn out coupes that were parted out but solid rust free south west bodies. 30 years of restoration and heavy collision makes it just a nother day in the shop for me. but I would make sure you research it fully before jumping in and just having any one try it out for you.

Default coupe to fastback conversion

Hey, I have a 69 coupe I was wanting to do the same thing to it. I was wondering how you were going about doing it. Is there a company that makes a kit with the roof and all? Or do you just have to find a parted out fastback or something? I just don't quite know where to start with it all.....

Default Drake customs

Going back to the original question, does anyone have any experience with Drake Customs out of Lake Havasu AZ? I am looking for any sort of feedback that anyone can provide on the company. They are advertising a fastback conversion for 8700 on Ebay which is much less than a Dynacorn. I personally do not care that it started life as a coupe. I am looking for a fastback that my son and I can build together as a project. Thanks.

If I requested detailed pictured of the welds from the company where should I ask them specifically to photograph and what (if any) angles of the welds should I ask for? Thanks,

S

Thanks, Is there a factory 'seam' where the rear quarter and FB roofline would be joined? I think that is what I am most concerned about. The majority of the welds should be there correct? If I could inspect it myself I would but living in NC that's not possible so I want to be as detailed as possible before dropping cash on something like this.
