Default 1969 mustang grille chrome question

I was removing all of the chrome from the grille area so i can get it ready for paint, and i was thinking if anyone has ever eliminated the grille chrome pieces on there 69. I'm curious to know if it would look all right, or if would it make it look to plain? What do you think?

You could strip the chrome off the parts and have them powder coat them black so it blends in with the grille.

If you go to members gallery you will see the front grille of my car and the front chrome pieces have been painted black to match the car. On a 69 those trim pieces are painted argent silver from the factory and are easily sanded. That is why I painted mine because I did not like the silver color. ontheball2

why I did not paint the narrow pieces of trim that you see left because I was worried that bugs and road trash would knock the paint off of them. They are the leading edge of the front of car and are going to take alot of abuse. Eliminating them will leave you with more problems because the front edge was designed with them and you would be left with mounting holes and unfinished edges. I guess if you were to ask your painter to guarantee that paint would not come off, go for it.
