Just curious....
I have a '65 mustang convertable, red, completely stock. How much should it be worth, and if I wanted to could it be traded straight across for a fastback?
Also I have a '57 Ford Fairlane 2 door hardtop, it's mine and my dad's next project car. But what engines came in those in that year? we like to go as close to stock as possible.
You could probably trade the convertible for a rusted out fastback with no motor, as long as the convertible is mint. A fastback shell is usually worth 12,000. w/ motor, 14,000. Running, 22,000. Mint, 26-30,000.
I have a fastback in resto right now that needs some work and put back together. I've had it since 1989. I just finished my '73 so I haven't had time to do anything besides strip it down.
I'll trade it for your car straight out. I only have one pic taken in 1991 in my profile!
If interested PM me. A vert is my dream car

From what I've read the 57' was available with the following
engines: 223 I6 144 bhp. 272 V8 190 bhp. 272 V8 205 bhp. 292 V8 212 bhp. 312 V8 245 bhp. 312 V8 270 bhp.

Don't know if we'll want to trade it, it's technically my grandpa's but he's been talking about trading it for a fastback for a while. So he would have to decide! What year is the Fastback though???
It's a '65 fastback. You might want to wait until I get it back together though. I just thought I would throw the idea on the table.

dispite what some here are saying the "vert is worth more than a FB, it's only a six but from the pics it looks like it has a pony interior. Punch up the NADA website and put the cars in...Nada is pretty close to what they are going for and a 'vert is worth a lot more than "a rusted out fastback with no engine".

Comparing apples to apples this would be a comparison between a 1965 6 cyl. 3 speed with no pony interior and no console. convertible $33,920 (high end)
and a fastback 289 A code w/ rally pak $48,300. (high end)
Looking at high end numbers, a Fastback is more valuable currently. But a vert has always been a top choice for me.

that's cool, I really like getting the ol' mustang out on a nice day, and droppin the top! Like I said in another thread I like as close to stock as possible, and it is bone stock, no mods at all, pony interior, I love the red with white top. I don't drive it fast it is just as fun cruisin in the classic with the top down!
I do like the style of the fastback though, and I think the 289 HiPo is one bad engine. It's just something my grandpa has been considering for a while.
