Well if you buy a car with no vin your stuck getting it license as a kit car where the dmv gives you a sticker thats your vin.The tools the trailers and few other things i would go after.

I just got word from some people who went there to look at the stuff on another forum.

Some of the cars are good projects. Here's a kicker though, the cars sustained damage during the impound and storage. Not all the cars have suspension/wheels/ or dollies on them. They were "dropped" and "dragged around" on the asphalt/gravel lot where thay are currently stored and the bottoms of the quarters and other sheet metal have been damaged. Some of this is new replacement sheetmetal. They also have dents and dings in them now as they are pushed up next to each other.

Here's something else and I saved the best for last. Some of those cars that have the VINs removed, it was done AFTER they were confiscated! There are a few cars there that have new fenders and paint and it is now damaged since the aprons were "torched out" afterwards! Looks like the investigators did this, not UP.

Most of the cars can be salvaged and saved but thier value is hurt as the state will have to assign them VINs now. It varies state by state as how they will handle it.

Lot of nice parts and tools thier. Several Camaros and other GM parts there too. The other thing I heard is the way it's being handled is screwed up as they made up lots of parts but they have the Ford and GM stuff mixed in together. So if you want a certain lot of Mustang stuff you'll wind up with Camaro parts too, you can't separate it there.

Why would the auction people or investigators want to remove the VINs? That would be loosing the identity of the car. If anyone wanted the identity removed, it was someone trying to hide a stolen vehicle and fast. The fastest way that I could think of is the torch, which is what was done.

It never ceases to amaze me how far people will go that are greedy. I hope these crooks get to live at the "Iron Hotel" for a long time. When you go to federal prison, you usually stay for awhile. I just hope that our hobby isn't given a black eye because of this.

Unique, as I see it, was guilty of criminal activity to start with. The asking prices for these vehicles was criminal.
