Default My 1966 Mustang Coupe is Finally DONE!

Finally finished restoring my 66 coupe that has been in the family since it was brand new and mine since 1972. Drove it daily until 1988 but it was in moth balls until 2006. It started life as a C-code 289-2V but is now a GT clone with lots of bells and whistles including 4-wheel disc brakes, R&P steering, 17-inch wheels, 9-inch rear-end with 3.50 gears and a highly modified 289. Its a blast to drive and recently won 1st place people's choice in the 64 1/2-66 modified class at a local MCA show in Phoenix. Check out the pics - more in my profile

First off, I have to say that is one beautiful Mustang! My 1966 was originally Ivy Green as well and I am going to restore it to that color. I am practically looking at my car restored. I'm going with the deluxe parchment interior too! I probably won't modify the engine, but your car is essentially what I want my coupe to look like, except for the GT stuff. You have provided me with a goal for my Mustang, and I thank you sir! I do love that exterior and interior color combo, it is as if I am gazing into the future.

EDIT: Is that interior ivy gold w/parchment? Also, what color is that carpet?

The interior is the original ivy gold and white (Ford called it white but it is more a cream and a bit lighter than parchment). I used TMI products and found the quality and fit excellent. The carpet is moss green from ACC which was the color code on the original. They sell an ivy gold carpet but IMO its too light and this was never an original color - at least not in 66. The heel pad on the ACC moss green was awful IMO and I actually was able to get them to swap in a custom color which is the trim on their Ivy Gold carpet. A little lighter than the original but better that the puke green on their standard moss green. The dash (from Dashes Direct) is also sold as Ivy Gold but its a med to dark ivy gold and highlights the lighter seat color real nice - also went with med ivy gold for the package tray.

Glad you like my car - keep us up to date on your progress.
