Default paxton supercharger installation

has anyone installed a paxton supercharger in a carburated mustang? I am thinking of doing this but want to be sure it is worth the high price tag. Were there any unseen hurdles the factory doesn't warn us about?

When posting questions, make sure to include the year and model of your Mustang along with major performance mods. Without this info, its almost impossible to answer technical questions.

Hello. I've had a couple of Paxton equipped cars, both of them 65 K code Mustangs, and yes, it is well worth it. The installation isn't difficult or complicated at all. It will make a small-block screamer act like a big block screamer.

I just installed the Paxton Supercharger on my 65 convertible. WOW! It is awesome and it looks good too.

Shommel, although I have not personally installed one, I am familiar with the basic process. It can be done by you depending on your mechanical abilities. If you have a/c, you will have to mount the Paxton on the battery side. This means your battery usually ends up in the trunk. With a carbureted engine, the Paxton kit will come with a "box" that encloses the carb in order to pressurize the charge of air to the engine. Your "A" code will work, but you should check with Paxton to see what carb they recommend, I believe it's a Holley 600 with mechanical secondaries. Expect about 40% increase in power.

it is a simple install especially if you have any mechanical abilities. can easily be done in a weekend. You must have some knowledge of how to adjust the air / fuel mixture on the carb. Paxton recommends a Barry Grant Demon carb. so far it has been well worth the cost. depending on the build of your engine it can add up to 60% increase in horsepower.

Is there any bottom-end considerations needed before adding a Paxton? Did the K-code use forged internals? Clearly you might want to beef up the brakes and maybe the handling a bit.

pjr65 - that Paxton units looks very, very nice under your hood. What motor did you install it on? C-code, A-code?

my A code was rebuilt prior to installing the paxton supercharger. The front end has coil over shocks and I installed new disc brakes on all corners. It runs great. Nearly silent until you get on the throttle and create boost. Although pricey, I highly recommend this for instant performance.

What went into your rebuild? Forged bottom end? And what about heads? Just trying to figure out the Paxton unit would be an addition for me to consider without lots of additional work on my recently rebuilt 289. I WANT ONE!

The bottom end is pretty much stock. i have edlebrock aluminum heads, a mild Comp Cam and roller rockers.
